    The exhibit and cultural experience will pay tribute to the contributions made by the Mexican workers who came to West Dallas to work in Cement City in the first half of the 20th century. Photographs and artifacts from that era will vividly describe what life was like in two communities +Cemento Grande and Cemento Chico. The Mexican Americans who lived in those communities are in many instances the people who went on to help build the Trinity River levees and many other aspects of DallasPs current infrastructure.

    Adding context to the exhibit on Saturday, March 3, 2012 will be lectures on two aspects of West Dallas's past. Moderating both presentations is Mercedes Olivera, columnist at The Dallas Morning News. 10:00 a.m. Environmental Justice in West Dallas Presenter: Luis Seplveda 2:00 p.m. Planning and Building the Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic Presenters: Anita Martnez, Pete Martnez and John Zapata Gonzlez
