How effective is the combination of the main product and ancillary tasks?

Poster Trailer

We have made various links between our main product and the ancillary tasks throughout this process. These links provide interest in the soap as it will contribute into making the audience aware of the fact it is a new soap and they can become familiar with the characters and storylines as we have carried links through with each point of construction in the trailer, poster and the magazine. In our trailer we end with a caption of all the characters standing together. This is to let audiences know that because it s a new soap we are introducing these people all at once and by showing them all together it provides interest and makes audiences want to know more about them. We have made a link for this with our poster as we wanted to use the same image. This is to make it clear that the poster and the trailer are from the same soap so audiences would be intrigued to watch. We want this to be the iconic image that audiences first see as it s a new soap and they would not have seen these characters before. This is the type of image that will stick with the audiences and by following it through with the poster it makes it more recognisable to the audience.

Trailer Magazine

The links that have been made between the trailer and the magazine have made the characters in particular stand out. This is because the characters remain wearing the same clothing and acting out their storylines. This is because we have created a new soap which audiences have not yet seen. Because of this we want to create distinguishable characters that the audience will recognise when they see all of the ancillary tasks. We have made sure to carry on the same storylines with both the magazine and trailer so it is easier to understand the individual plots between the characters, making it more appealing for audiences to watch.

Trailer
The title of our soap opera Blossom Hill is a vital piece of information that has to be included in all three aspects of our product. Because of this we have made the link between them and have incorporated the title in them all the make sure the audiences is aware of what the soap is actually called.

For the poster and trailer we have used the same font to make the title more recognisable but for the magazine we decided on a more bold and vibrant font to make it stand out more and to follow through with the colour scheme on the magazine. We have also decided not to include when the soap starts on the magazine to follow with the typical conventions of soap magazines as not many of them include this information on the cover. As we want the main focus to be about the fact it s a new soap we intend on having the information about times and dates on the inside. This will also make people want to get the magazine so they cant find out the starting information if they like the initial look of our soap.

Tagline It s not always perfect in paradise

The tagline for our soap opera is something we intend to be memorable and recognisable to our audience. To ensure this happens we have made the link between our trailer, poster and magazine and have incorporated this tagline in all three. In the trailer we present this tagline with a voiceover to help put it across as well as have it in writing. On the poster its above the main image to show that this is something that will be later revealed and the same with the magazine and how its above the main image and takes its place as the main cover line. This is to emphasize that in the soap, although these characters lives appear perfect on the outside it is not always paradise and that even these people who are of a high class have their share of dilemmas.
