SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
3.0 Overall GPA
Resident of San Diego County at time of application
LGBT high school senior continuing to higher education; LGBT full-time undergraduate or graduate student
Attend San Diego PFLAG Awards Ceremony in-person (
Worthiness of the award of the PFLAG scholarship will be calculated upon the following criteria:
1.A well-written application essay that includes a clear articulation of the candidate’s goals in their chosen field,2.Demonstration of financial need,3.A history of strong academic achievement, and4.Compliance with all PFLAG SD application requirements.

Letter of recommendation
Statement of financial need: In one or two sentences, please outline how much of your educationexpenses, including tuition, you pay and how much is paid through other sources.
Application Essay: You must write an application essay in English that is free of spelling or grammatical errors. Essays may be no more than one double-spaced page and written in either Arial or New Times Roman 12 point font.Please address each of the following questions:
1.What do you believe are the human rights issues that are confronting the LGBT community intoday’s society?2.What are the obstacles to obtaining human rights for LGBT community members?3.How will your education goals,
specifically this scholarship (mandatory)
, and your future career assist in overcoming these obstacles?
