I. MOCES 2011 AWARD The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. will bestow the 11th Annual Most Outstanding Civil Engineering Student Award to one (1) outstanding student member of PICE belonging to an accredited active student chapter. This annual award will be given by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers under the auspices of the PICE National Student Affairs Committee which has created the MOCES 2011 Committee, in coordination with the 97 PICE Chapters, the 168 student chapters and the respective Deans or Chairs of the Civil Engineering Departments of the School/College/University where there is an accredited PICE Student Chapter. II. QUALIFICATIONS OF NOMINEES Nominees must: 1. 2. 3. be a Filipino Citizen, be a member in good standing of a PICE accredited Student Chapter, be a candidate for graduation for the school year 2011-2012 (a Certification from the School Registrar must be submitted) and of good moral character (Certifications from the CE Department Heads and Student Affairs Head must be submitted), submit an essay (not less than 100 words, but not more than 200 words) on the MY ROLE AS CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENT IN RISK REDUCTION MANAGEMENT, and submit an appropriate slogan for this campaign; the nomination should be endorsed to the PICE MOCES 2011 Committee by the following: a. at Student Chapter Level: School Chapter Adviser AND the CE Department Head of the School/College or Institution. b. at the Mother Chapter Level: Resolution of the Board of Directors

III. NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS 1. All MOCES nominees are required to register in the 14th National Civil Engineering Conference on November 19, 2011 at Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center, Cagayan de Oro City, before they can qualify to the final selection. 2. The top three (3) placers must express his/her intention to present his/her Essay during the 14th National Civil Engineering Students Conference on November 19, 2011.
IV. RULES FOR SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES 1. A Student Chapter can submit only one (1) Nominee to their Mother Chapter who must submit one (1) set of authenticated documents as follows: The Mother Chapter shall submit only one nominee from among its student chapters. a. Academic grades earned from 3rd year to the 2nd Semester of the 4th year as certified by the Registrar of the School. b. Listing of membership in the various campus or off-campus organizations with positions held (enclose authenticated certificates of membership from the head of organization). c. List of academic Honors/Awards/Distinctions Received (with copy of authenticated Certificates from sponsors). d. Technical Seminars attended (attach authenticated Certificates of Participation). e. Other documents to prove worthiness to become the MOCES 2011 Awardee. Nominations must be received by the National Administrative Office not later than October 15, 2011. The decision of the MOCES 2011 Committee & the National Student Affairs Committee is final and confirmed by the PICE National Board of Directors.

Note: A candidate must submit original or certified true copy of documents. These will be returned after the judges' evaluation. Submission of falsified documents is an immediate ground for disqualification.

V. Criteria for the Selection PART I 1. Academic Performance - (40%) (a) The academic average grades in the 3rd and 4th year except for the National Service Training Program shall be the general weighted average (GWA). The minimum GWA requirement to be a candidate for the MOCES must be 85%.

(b) At least 80% of the total academic units should have been earned at the school/university/college where the candidate is bei subjects should have been taken at the said school/university/college. (c) Incomplete, dropped or failing grades in any academic subject required by the course are grounds for disqualification. 2. Leadership/Involvement in the PICE Student Chapter (30%) The nominee must: (a) Exhibit outstanding leadership inside and outside the school/college/university as a member of the PICE Student Chapter. (Participation in PICE Events) (b) Must possess good moral character. (A Certification from the CE Department Head and Head of Student Affairs must be submitted) 3. Community Service (15%) The nominee must: (a) A continuing and outstanding involvement in community service. (b) Participated in outstanding community development projects or value formation, environmental and safety assistance

programs.

Contents of the essay/Expressed illingness to present the Essay at the 14th National Civil Engineering Students Conference on November 19, 2011- (15%) PART II Final Interview by the MOCES 2011 Committees The top three (3) placers based on ratings from Criteria 1 to 4 above will be informed in writing and will be called for final interview by the MOCES 2011/National Student Chapter Affairs Committee. VI. Awarding

Awarding will be held on November 17, 2011 at the Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City during the 37th National Convention Fellowship Night. VII. Prizes The MOCES 2011 1st Placer will receive the following prizes: Plaque of Distinction Cash Prize of P30,000.00 Certificates for the School and the Mother Chapter The MOCES 2011 2nd Placer will receive the following prizes: Plaque of Distinction Cash Prize of P20,000.00 Certificates for the School and the Mother Chapter The MOCES 2011 3rd Placer will receive the following prizes: Plaque of Distinction Cash Prize of P10,000.00 Certificates for the School and the Mother Chapter
