ResidentsresidingintheFranklinSchoolDistrictwillhaveachoicetovotefortwooutofsixcandidatesfortheFranklinSchoolBoard.Note:TheSchoolBoardisagovernmentalbody,whichisseparatefromthedutiesandlawsundertheCity’saldermanicandmayoralpositions.

Newtoyourtaxbill,youmayormaynothavenoticed,wastheseparategarbagefee.IvotedagainstthisfeebecauseIvieweditasatrashywaytoraisetaxeswithoutyourknowledge.Placingthisasaseparatefeethenaddingthe$104backintoyourtaxtotalgivestheappearanceofadecreaseintaxesandthatnothingchanged.Inreality,whatwaspreviouslyincludedinyourtaxbillisnowaseparatefee.ItalsodecreasesaccountabilityforfuturegarbageandrecyclingcontractratesbecauseitisnolongerpartofthebudgetcostsundertheresponsibilityoftheCouncil.
