supportaloneforrepealingthelawoutnumbersthetotalityoftheoppositionandrelativelyfewvotersareundecided.Beyondtheimpressivelevelofintensity,supportforrepealingH.B.194isnoticeablybroadaswell,withvoterssupportingrepealbydouble-digitmargins,regardlessofgender,age,race,education,andregion.AmajorityofOhioanssupportsthecompleterepealofH.B.194,alawpassedlastyearbytheOhioLegislature“thatreducesthetimeperiodforvotingbymailandearlyvotingfrom35daysto16days,closesearlyvotinglocationsonSaturdayafternoonsandSundays,andpreventscountiesfromsendingoutvote-by-mailapplicationstovoters.ThelawalsospecifiesthatpollworkersdonothavetotellvoterstheyareinthewrongprecinctandrequiresvoterstogivepartoftheirSocialSecuritynumbersiftheydonothavephotoID.”
A54%majoritywouldvote“No”torepealthelawtodaycomparedto just31%whowouldvote“Yes”.Muchoftheelectorate’ssupportforrepealisrootedinintensity,with37%ofvotersstronglybackingrepeal.
Only18%ofvotersstronglysupportkeepingthelawonthebooksand15%ofvotersareundecided.
