I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose." (Luke 4:43). PART 1
Universal Kingdom
People grew Acts 7:17 Nation of Israel was est. Ex 19:6 First mention of the Kingdom of God
Kingdom of God: It is the universal rule of God over his creation A Kingdom contains three elements: A ruler with authority A realm of subjects to be ruled A ruler ship which is the exercise of kingship Appears first time in Ex 19:6 where God assigns the people of Israel to be a Kingdom. "Kingdom of Heaven" occurs 31 times in Matthew. It is noteworthy that it appears nowhere else in the New Testament. In contrast, the term "Kingdom of God" occurs 63 times in the New Testament, 9 times in Acts and Paul's epistles, only 5 times in Matthew -- the balance being found in Mark, Luke and John. Kingdom of Heaven is the Universal Kingdom of God as administered in heaven. The essential quality of that Kingdom is that rebellion is not tolerated. (Example throw-down of Lucifer).
Eternal vs Temporal (Ps 10:16 vs Dan 2:44) Universal vs local (Ps 103:19 vs Isa 24:23) Theocratic vs Mediatorial (Ps 59:13 vs Ps 2:4-6) Present vs Future (Zech 14:9 vs Ps 29:10) (Ps 103:19 vs Matt 6:10 Unconditional vs covenant based (Dan 4:34-35 vs Ps 89:27-29)
How do we explain these contradictions or Distinctions about the Kingdom of God? Has scripture made mistakes? Or is there a deeper truth hidden?
