Details of incomplete research and planning- must be completed by Friday 24th February for assessment. y For the horror genre documentary you want to focus on what the task was: to explore horror codes and conventions. Make this clear. You weren t really being assessed on your use of iMovie here. Also do a write-up of the codes of and conventions of horror below in addition to the video. Go back to the handouts and use those to help you. y Todorov s Narrative Theory- title should be Todorov s Narrative Theory applied to Sweeney Todd y Excellent analysis of Preliminary sequence in The Shining. Make sure this is clear in the title and task explanation- Preliminary Sequence applied to The Shining conversation sequence y Shot Types title should read- Preliminary Sequence Shot Types and Continuity y Needs evaluation of final preliminary task y Try to be even more specific when analysing the use of shot types. The use of the CU shots position you in line with the killer- they seem to be an externalized thought process of his scheming and planning. They make the audience feel almost complicit in the planning, yet because of the CU shots and anonymity of the killer we are still left uneasy as his identity is concealed setting up the thriller genre. Must make reference back to how the genre is constructed. This is excellent however. y Dead Silence analysis- use appropriate terminology e.g. what kind of shot is the eye shot- an extreme close-up. What is the effect of using such shots- you need to consider what comes before and after for this to make sense. y Sweeney Todd analysis- needs to use more specific terminology again. What kind of shots are used? Be more precsise when analysing the typography. What kind of font is used? Describe it and analyse it. Avoid phrases like, stands out . This is vague. Editing needs to be more precisely exploredpace? Cuts? Transitions? y Inspiration for our opening sequence should read Planning of Story Structure y Excellent screenplay y Evidence of planning is missing.
