An In-Depth ExaminationExploring The Acceptance Of Homosexual Orientation Throughout The BibleWritten and Compiled by Jarrell Woods
(Jeffrey S. Hall)
Version 1.04
Genesis 19:4-13
But before they lay down, the men of the city
, even
the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from everyquarter:And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where
the men whichcame in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,And said, I pray you, do not so wickedly.Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, Ipray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as
good in youreyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under theshadow of my roof. And they said, Stand back. And they said
, This one
camein to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse withthee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man,
Lot, andcame near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house tothem, and shut to the door. And they smote the men that

But this hasbeen interpreted to imply that every last man, both young and old, were gay. This cannot be the case, first of all because Lot’s daughters were likelypledged to be married to men of Sodom, or Lot would have not settled there. Also, if all the men were homosexuals, Lot would have not offered hisdaughters to appease them. If the men of this entire city were gay, therewould have been no heterosexual sex to sustain them, and they would havegrown old and died out. No, any reasonable interpretation of the story mustaccount for the facts that all the males of Sodom (both homosexual andheterosexual), and perhaps even the *women, participated in this attack.*(For instance, see the account and its wording of where Jesus fed themultitudes: Matthew 14:21.)Since he didn’t comply with their wishes, they said they would do worse tohim than to the two guests. They were trying to force the door down. The
