Sermon for February 26, 2012Michael Brown, Intern MinisterUniversalist Unitarian Church of FarmingtonWe are among those most likely to participate in rallies, signpetitions, “like” good causes on facebook, and talk aboutpolitics. I’m sure when coffee hour starts this morning, therewill be more than a couple discussions about the upcomingprimary for the Republican Presidential candidates on Tuesday. We’re pretty good at knowing what’s going on.We like to voice our opinions. We are good at the work of Martha. The key, as Alex discussed last week, to completingthe circle of wholeness in a community like this one, one thatfeels a collective dedication to the cause of justice, is toembrace love as a guiding principle.It’s good for an intern in any organization to say every nowand then “I don’t have all the answers” and it’s good for anintern to say it to himself. I don’t have the answers foreverybody. I don’t have the answers. I do, however, havethe love. When I am able to look at the person with whom Iam arguing with, and appreciate that he or she is a journeyto find peace and calm in their life, then the barriersbetween us don’t seem so insurmountable.
