Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi was born in 1869 in Porbandar, in the Gujarat state of India. He had is education in London and the reafter he travelled to South Africa. Here he experienced Racism. Mahatma was to tally against the beliefs of race, caste, creed, colour of skin and untouchables . Gandhi was the firm believer of power of truth, non-violence and independence. He led a very simple life with very high thinking. He took-up the rights of Ind ians and instituted first campaign of passive resistance. These days there is fr equent terrorism. Instances of bombarding, riots, arson, vandalism, ransacking, burning of trains, buses, public property thereby killing, men, women and child ren is very frightening, painful and pathetic. Mahatma Gandhi won the independe nce for India against the British Rule, with his way of peace, harmony and non-v iolence. Hence I think him to be the most important person for India.
