FairfieldAreaLibrary:AssociateTrusteeKibRoulettefoundagreatlocationtoplacethisnewsatellite

library.TrusteesMarieChantelau,CarlKohnandKibRouletteworkedcloselywiththeboroughsofCarroll
ValleyandFairfieldandthetownshipsofHamiltonbanandLiberty.InSeptember2002itwasagreedthat
ournewlocationwouldbeat31WortzDriveinFairfield.Mr.RobertGach,ownerofthebuilding,worked
withthelibrarytomakethisstartupasuccess.Mr.Gachshelp,thefinancialsupportandcooperationof
thefourmunicipalities,andtheskillsandeffortsofourstaffmadeitpossibletogetthenewlibraryupand
runningwithin3months,witheverythingreadyforaJanuary2003opening.Wecontinuetogrowandare
lookingtowardstheMcSherrystownareaforournextsite.
Planning:TheLibraryengagedtheservicesoftheIvyGroup.SurveydatawasacquiredwhichourPlanningand
GovernanceCommitteewillusetohelpusimprovelibraryservicetoallinAdamsCounty.
FestivalofTrees:Thisyear,PellaCorporationaskedifACLSwouldworkwiththeminhostingaFestivalofTrees

duringNovemberandDecember.ThesebeautifulholidaytreesandwreathswereauctionedonSaturday,Dec.7
th,and

theproceedswerecontributedtoHolidayFamilyOutreach.
IncreaseduseoftheLibrary:In2002thesystemlentnearly480,000items.Ofcoursecirculationdoesnottellthe
wholestory.IntheCentralLibrary(Gettysburg)alone,werecordedmorethan167,000customervisitsin2002.
ThankyouLibraryvolunteersgaveover5700hoursofservice.Knowingthatvolunteertimecomesfromlives

thatarefullandschedulesthatarebusy,makesthiscontributionevenmoregenerous.Personallyand
professionally,IamgratefulforhavinghadtheopportunitytoworkwiththiswonderfulmixofTrustees,Friendsof
theLibrary,staff,andcommunitymembersforthepast5years.Thankyou,oneandall.
