So Naomi, you’refrom Wales and you’reeleven. So what does aneleven-year old girl do for fun in Wales?
Naomi:
I do music. I playthe piano and the violinand I play sports: netball.
Dai:
Netball? What’sthat?
Naomi:
Yeah, it’s like abasketball a bit, butmostly girls play it. Youhave to...you have twoteams and you have to tryand get the ball in eachothers’ nets.
Dai:
Oh OK, so it’s justlike basketball. Youbounce it around and...
Naomi:
Well, you don’treally bounce it thatmuch. You can onlybounce it once.
Dai:
Oh really?
Naomi:
Yeah.
Dai:
Oh OK, I see. Andyou play it indoors thenor...?
Naomi:
Yeah mostlyindoors -- in the summer sometimes outdoors.
Dai:
Oh OK, soundsgood. Yeah so, you canonly bounce it once?
Naomi:
Yeah, there’sthree different passes youcan do. One is you use abounce called “bouncepass” and you can onlyuse a bounce once.
Dai:
OK, to pass it to your team mate.
Naomi:
Yeah.
Dai:
OK, and what arethe other passes?
Naomi:
There’s “chestpass”.
Dai:
And what’s that?
Naomi:
It’s just a straightpass from your chest tothe other person’s chest.
Dai:
Oh OK.
Naomi:
And “shoulder pass” which is sort of alob.
Dai:
Like a lob, you throwit over your shoulder kindof thing. And so, it’s just...well like basketballsomebody throws it in thenet and how many pointsdo you get?
Naomi:
It’s one point for every net -- every ball thatyou get in the net.
Dai:
Oh OK. and howlong is a game of netball?
Naomi:
Probably aboutan hour.
Dai:
Oh really? So likehalf an hour each sideor...?
Naomi:
Yeah, I think so.
Dai:
OK, and how manypeople are there on ateam?
Naomi:
Seven.
Dai:
Seven?
Naomi:
Yeah.
Dai:
OK, nice.
