As a struggling medical student in Venezuela, Guillermo knew he wanted to help people, but he also needed to provide for himself. He would stand in line for aslong as two hours, just to get a free lunch at the university, so he could stay in school and become a physician–to help people. As difficult as it was to get by, hefound a way.When Guillermo was first introduced to Herbalife during summer break from medical school, it was the business opportunity that intrigued him. Eventually, hissponsor introduced him to someone who was to have a profound influence on his life–Chairman’s Club member Nani Rancel. Hearing Nani talk about the businesswith such enthusiasm convinced Guillermo that this was an opportunity he couldn’t miss. He borrowed the money to buy an IBP and jumped in. He immediatelystarted to have doubts, though. “I was afraid I couldn’t sell,” Guillermo recalls.A turning point came in 1993 when Guillermo scraped together enough money to go to Miami and see Mark Hughes speak. He realized the potential of Herbalifewas beyond anything he ever imagined. That’s when Guillermo made a 100% commitment to Herbalife. “I knew then that if they were willing to teach me, I waswilling to learn.Guillermo resides in Bolivia and enjoys the lifestyle that comes with his success. He is also deeply committed to helping others and he encourage others to do thesame, whether it’s helping children in need or sponsoring a local sports team. “I follow Mark Hughes’ example of giving back to people,” says Guillermo.
