Evil Sometimes Employs a Quiet Man With a Coach Bag in a GAP Store.
Last Saturday afternoon in Atlantic City, I saw a middle-aged man shoplift.I didn't know he was doing so until he was out the door. He was good at it.He blended in such that very few really noticed as he casually pulled clothes off the racks and put them into a Coach shopping bag.We were in the GAP!It was as if he was merely and leisurely picking ripe tomatoes off the vinein his garden on a warm summer afternoon. No one noticed. He was not in a hurry, even sauntering out after "lifting"the stuff. I know, I watched him leave. His quiet way made him appear to be"just one of us" - out for a pleasant afternoon of picking up a few things on sale. The only difference was: we were paying for our finds! When we went to the desk and reported what we thought we'd seen(along with woman and young daughters reporting the same incident), the manager chuckled, shrugged her shoulders, looked around the store as if to to mimic caring, and then gave us a kind of "Oh well..."
