57%ofAdultsBelieveTaxandRegulatoryBurdenonBusinessesAreSlowing JobCreation
Smallbusinessowners,entrepreneursandjobcreatorshavebeenbemoaningthehurdlestohiringandgrowththatfederalrulesandregulationsrepresentforsometimenow,andanewnationalpollshowsbroadsupportandsympathyfortheirpositionsamongAmericans.
Nearly60%ofadultsnationwidehave“agreatdealofsympathy”forindividualsmallbusinessownerswhonamehightaxesasaproblemwhenitcomestohiringnewworkersorincreasingwagesofcurrentworkers.Likewisefortheissuesofconfusingtaxrules,risinghealthcarecostsandpoliticalgridlock,morethanhalfofAmericanshaveagreatdealofsympathy.
Interestingly,whenaskediftheywouldsupportcertainpolicyreformsonbehalfofemployersifitwouldhelptocreatejobsorraisewages,therewasbroadsupportforgivingtaxbreakstosmallbusinessowners(68%);reformingthetaxcodetomakeitlesscomplexandcostlytocomplywith(68%);reducingFederalspendingtoreassuretheprivatesectorthattaxeswouldn’tberaisedinthefuture(53%)andreducingthenumberofadditionalregulationsthatsmallbusinessesfaceastheygrow(51%).
Further,whenaskediftheybelievedthatifthepolicychangestheysupportweremade,employersintheircommunitieswouldhiremoreworkersorpayhigherwages,90%saidthatwasatleastsomewhatlikely.
Nearly60%ofalladultsand67%ofpoliticalIndependents,saidthatthebestapproachtogettingtheeconomybackontrackandcreatingjobswouldbetolimitthesizeofgovernment,keeptaxeslowandreduceregulatoryburden.
Thepollofarepresentativesampleof2,023adultswasconductedfortheJobCreatorsAlliancebyYouGovwithamarginoferrorof+/-2.2%onFebruary24-28,2012.
