Running head: CRICKETCricketHassan RizviCTU OnlineBrenda A. CareyINTD111-0803B-7908-30-2008CricketCricket has been started in somewhere in 12
century. Evidence tells us that itwas started from England and it was popular by the end of 17
century. It is a ball & bat

game and with the help of them runs has been scored. The first ever international match was played between USA & Canada in 1840s andthe first recognizes test match was played between England & Australia in 1877 and then itexpands its popularity around the world, like India was familiarized with cricket when Britishwas there, or we can say where ever in the subcontinent the expansion of British rule gone, cricket was with them. They played cricket every where they rule and they have taught theother nations how to play cricket and what are the rules of cricket. Now there is a ICC (International Cricket Council) who makes rules or doenhancements in cricket. It is also called as governing body of cricket. It was founded in 1909 by representatives of Australia, England and South Africa and it was named as ImperialCricket Conference but it was renamed in 1965 as International Cricket Conference and in1989 it was again renamed and still is as International Cricket Council. The standard requirements by ICC for test matches or one day matches are that the playing area should be 22 yards (20.12m) long and 10 feet (3.05m) wide that is called pitchand on a pitch there are two wickets with three sticks of 22 yards apart. Now the teams consists of 11 players in each team who players the match rather thatis test match or one day match, one side have to bat and one side have to field and bowl atone time. The bowling side have their eleven players in ground at the time of bowling andthe batting side sends their two batsmen as an openers in start of the game and then the bowling side have to out the players of batting side one by one by the rules of ICC. After  bowling them all out then they can bat and then who ever makes more runs is to be thewinner of that game. There is a big difference in one day match and test match. One day match consists of 100 overs and every team have to bowl 50 overs each, no matter how many players the other side can out, they just have to play 50 over’s and try to make runs as much as possible but thetest match is consists of 5 days approximately 80 over’s bowled every day but in test matchthe bowling team have to take 10 wickets before they can bat means that they have to all outthe opponent to take their batting. When cricket was started there was no concept of one day cricket, at that time onlytest cricket was played but later on one day cricket introduced and now a day’s one day
 Cricket 4
cricket is more popular then the test cricket. Recently ICC have introduced a new format inone day cricket and that is called as 20/20.In 20/20 each team have to bowl 20 over’s and it’s a fast style of cricket. Inoneday cricket it so rear that the boundaries have been hit but in 20/20, because it’s a limitedovers match you can see as much as hitting in each innings.20/20 is the most popular formatin cricket now a days. The biggest event in cricket is world cup, which held’s every 5 years in differentcountries which are listed and recognized by ICC and the event is schedule by ICC with anyenhancing rules. Whoever wins the world cup he remains the champion for the next 5 yearsand from last year ICC have started a champions trophy also for 20/20 but it will be heldevery year in different country as schedule by ICC. Now a day’s cricket is the most popular game after football worldwide but in SouthAsia cricket is the most popular game and the people of South Asia are crazy about cricket.ReferencesCricket history.
