ALBUM REVIEW
Title Artist Genre Released Label Length : Angles : The Strokes : Alternative Rock : March, 22 2011 : RCA, Rough Trade : 34:09

The Strokes have always done a phenomenal job at mixing Julian Casablancass voice with their upbeat guitar and synth/drum. Formed in 1998, The Strokes is an American alternative rock band based in New York. The band consist of Julian Casablancas on vocals, Nick Valensi on lead guitar, Albert Hammond Jr. on rhythm guitar, Nikolai Fraiture on bass guitar, and Fabrizio Moretti on drums. Their first debut Last Nite was released as an EP via the website of UK Magazine NME as a free mp3 download. In 2011, while k-pop was taking over the world, The Strokes came with their new album, Angles. Angles contains 12 songs. The music itself features a mix of alternative rock and indie pop. For examples we can hear Under Cover of Darkness and Taken for a Fool as their singles. Theyre very simple and if we compared with the previous single is not much different but still iconic. They also have Machu Piccu for starter in this album with a very attractive reggae drum style. My favorite track in Angles is Two Kind Of Happiness. Although the song is not among of their concert song list, but the mixed of 80s instruments with deep lyrics is quite unique. To be honest, Angles is not the best album from the Strokes. It has a lot different from their album in many ways. But it should be appreciated as it is. In Angles, Julians voice has sounded better. He has grown into real singer here. Fabrizio Morettis drumming is fierce. No one can deny his talent after hearing Taken for a Fool. Overall, the music has a cool sound. As a fan of The Strokes, Ive been waiting this album for 5 years and it's worth it. It's very grateful to know that they're back. Angles is different, yet it still enjoyable. Its recommended for soundtrack for a road trip to nowhere or an indie film like Where the Wild Things Are.
