SURVEY OF DIRICHLET SERIES OF MULTIPLICATIVEARITHMETIC FUNCTIONS
RICHARD J. MATHAR
Abstract.
The manuscript reviews Dirichlet Series of important multiplica-tive arithmetic functions. The aim is to represent these as products and ratiosof Riemann
ζ
-functions, or, if that concise format is not found, to provide theleading factors of the infinite product over
ζ
-functions. If rooted at the Dirich-let series for powers, for sums-of-divisorsand for Euler’s totient, the inheritanceof multiplicativity through Dirichlet convolution or ordinary multiplication of pairs of arithmetic functions generates most of the results.

1.1.
Definition.
Multiplicative functions are arithmetic functions
a
(
n
)—functionsdefined for integer argument
n
∈
Z
—for which evaluation commutes with multipli-cation for coprime arguments:

The topic of the manuscript is the computation of the Dirichlet series

of arithmetic functions of that kind for sufficiently large real part of the argument

As an immediate consequence of the definition, the

Properties.
For ease of reference further down, we summarize well-knownfeatures of arithmetic functions.A consequence of the definition (1.1) is that the function is already entirelydefined if specified for prime powers
p
e
, because all remaining values follow by theprime power factorization of the arguments:(1.4)

The equation that explicitly specifies values of

master equa-tion
of that sequence in the sequel.
