4. How to apply: -
Applications will be accepted 'online' w.e.f. 27 Feb 12. Todo so, the candidates need to logon to the Website www.joincoastguard.org. (i) Terms and conditionslinked to the form will be displayed and must carefully be read, prior to submitting the form. Thecandidate will click on the ‘I Agree’ button, and then, immediately the Online Application form willbe displayed. The candidate should select the required branch as indicated in para 2 above and fillall the particulars. (ii) After submitting the form an acknowledgement with a Registration number willbe provided to the candidate along with date, time and venue of the examination. The filledApplication Form, with the number generated will be available to the candidate to save and take aprint. For candidates NOT meeting the eligibility criteria, a ‘Rejection Slip, giving the cause ofrejection with the Application Number’ will be displayed. The dates of applying online is from 27Feb – 15 Mar 12. (iii) After submitting online application, candidates are required to print two copiesof the application with number generated by the system. Both copies of the print out of applicationduly signed with photograph affixed is to be carried by the applicant to the testing centre. Out of thetwo copies one copy shall be enclosed with class 10th certificate/mark sheet showing date of birth,12th class certificate along with mark sheet showing subjects, Degree certificate/ mark sheets dulyattested by the Gazetted Officer shall also be carried by the candidate for submission at the time ofPreliminary Selection. Any candidate who does not carry all these documents at the time of PSBshall not be permitted to appear in the exam. (iv) Candidates must submit only one online application.Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.
Note: -
All original certificates alongwith two attested (by a Gazetted Officer) copies each will becarried by the candidate for PSB examination center. Originals will be returned after verification atthe examination center.
5. Important Instructions regarding eligibility and filling online application:-
(a) Candidates are to choose any one venue out of the options displayed, indicating his/ her firstchoice. He/ she will be allotted the same venue. Subject to availability (b) The candidates failed inPilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) or suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy cannotappear for 'Pilot' branch. However, they may apply for Navigator (Observer). (c) Candidates canappear for any one branch only. (d) Candidates withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any otherservice training academy are not eligible to appear. (e) Candidates should not have been arrested,convicted or prosecuted on criminal charges. (f) Name of candidate, father/mother's name and dateof birth should be as given in the 10th class pass certificate. (g) Candidate must possess the requiredqualification as per para 2 above and should be able to produce original marks sheet of theUniversity and original degree/provisional degree from the University at the time of Final SelectionBoard. (h) Candidates awaiting final year/ semester result may also apply provided they should nothave any backlog. Such candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificateissued by the University latest by 01 Jun 2012. Provisional degree issued by the college will not beaccepted. (j) While filling up the application form, candidates are required to indicate exactpercentage of 12th and Degree, upto two decimals and are not to be rounded off. Any false entry ofpercentage detected at any stage of selection will be outrightly rejected.
6. Schedule for PreliminarySelection Examination:
Candidates to reach the given venue at least 30 minutes prior to thecommencement of Exam. The date and time of the examination will be generated on acceptanceof the application 'online'. The Preliminary Selection will be scheduled tentatively in the Thirdweek of Mar 2012. Firm dates will be reflected on the accepted application/website.
7. MedicalStandards:
(a) Height (in Centimeters) (i) Asst Commandant (GD) and Technical: 157 cms minimummay be reduced by 5 cms in the case of Assamese (including those from Nagaland, Mizoram,Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura) Garhwal, Sikkim, Local tribes of A & N Islandsand 2 cms in case of candidates from Lakshadweep, mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar.(ii) Asst Commandant GD(Women) : 152 cms. (iii) Asst Commandant (Pilot) (Men/Women): Minimum162.5 cms and maximum 197 cms, leg length minimum 99 cms and maximum 120.0 cms.
(b)Weight
Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.
(c) Chest
Well proportionate,minimum expansion 5 cms.
(d) Eye Sight:
(i) Asst Commandant (GD) - 6/6(Good Eye) 6/9 (Bad Eye)without glasses (ii) Asst Commandant GD(P/N) - 6/6 (Both Eyes) without glasses (iii) Asst CommandantTechnical - 6/12 (Good Eye) and 6/36 (Bad eye).

Candidates with above medical standardsonly to appear for the selection. No waiver will be given for the above standards.
8. SelectionProcedure.
(a) Shortlisted candidates through online application will be called for PreliminarySelection at given date and time. Candidates are required to appear at the Venue with the followingdocuments: (i) Two copies of pre-filled 'online' application with passport size photograph affixed onboth. (ii) Original certificate of tenth class for date of birth verification. (iii) Original mark sheet andcertificates of 10+2 examination. (iv) Original certificate and marks sheets (all semesters and years)of BE/ B Tech / Graduation as the case may be. (v) Proof of identity such as passport, driving license,voter I card, college ID card or any other photo identity proof. (vi) Caste Certificate (if applicable) inoriginal as per Govt of India format and the format given below as applicable. (vii) Charactercertificate (from School/ College/ Employee).
(b) Preliminary Selection Board (PSB): -
Eligiblecandidates will appear in Preliminary Selection on the given date and time which will consist ofMental Ability testS. All candidates clearing MAT will undergo PP&DT(Picture Perception andDiscussion Test).
(c) Final Selection Board (FSB): -
The candidates qualifying MAT and PP&DTabove will be called for Final Selection. The date and venue for Final Selection Board will beuploaded on Indian Coast Guard website www.indiancoastguard.nic.in. The Final Selection willconsist of Psychologist test, Group Testing and Interview (Personality test)
(d) Medical: -
All selectedcandidates will undergo Medical examination at nearest Military Hospital. Candidates for GD(P/N)will undergo medical at AFCME, Delhi/Bengaluru.
(e) PABT:-
GD(Pilot) candidates on qualifyingFSB will be required to appear for PABT at Dehradun/Mysore AFSSBs. Those already qualifiedPABT are to provide details of batch, Chest number and place while filling Persnoal InformationQuestionnaire (PIQ).
(f) Validity of Selection:
The candidate's selection pertaining to a particularbatch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final selectlist cannot claim admission for the next batch. These candidates will have to undergo the selectionprocedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch. 9. Reasons forrejection: The Candidature of a candidate can be rejected at any time during the process ofselection if:- (a) Having detected not meeting any of the above laid down criteria / conditions ofeducation qualification, age, submission of wrong information or certificates etc. (b) Activities ofindiscipline including copying etc. during the testing procedures.
10. Merit List.
Qualifying at theFSB does not confirm final selection. A merit list is prepared for the medically fit candidates on thebasis of marks obtained by the candidates at FSB. Those who have scored high in the merit list andwho are within the stipulated vacancies and are medically fit will be issued with appointment letterand joining instructions for training. The number of vacancies vary from branch to branch and willbe decided at a later date depending on the no. of training vacancies available at the trainingacademy.
11. Travel Allowance.
Second class train fare for SC/ST candidates who are not employedin the central/state Govt. and if the home station is beyond 30 kms from the place of selection centrewill be reimbursed.
12. General Guidelines.
(a) Candidates should be prepared to stay for 02/03days for the Preliminary Selection for which they have to make their own arrangements. No TA/DAwill be admissible. (b) Candidates are to regularly visit the CG Website www.indiancoastguard.nic.infor latest updates. (c) No intimation will be given to the candidate in writing or verbal to submit freshapplication / certificate/ or any other required documents.
13. INDIAN COAST GUARD OFFERSYOU:
(a) Pay. Assistant Commandant - Rs. 15600-39100 with Grade Pay Rs. 5400/- Total emolumentson joining Rs. 45,000/- (approx) per month. (b) In addition to the pay, there will be Dearnessallowance, Kit Maintenance allowance and Transport allowance. Other allowances such as flyingallowance, sea duty allowance and Island special duty allowance will be admissible based onnature of duty/place of posting
(c) Other benefits:-
