Steel Heart

Outside his heart is made of steel But fragile is the core A place where pain is locked away Where only one has gone before With good intent, they tease and jest Never meaning to cause any harm But the words still burn and pound against The fragile place inside his chest He only has himself to blame For laughing and smiling right back Instead of stopping his so called friends From turning his once red heart so black But the words will penetrate his heart of steel And poison him from within And every night he will lie in bed And slowly wither away in his head
