Spotted Elk Wounded Knee

Recently in court Judge Paula Langworthy said among other things that the Court could find no evidence that Dick Spotted Elk was even at Wounded Knee. This article shows that he was. As heavily skewed and ridiculous as the article is, it still shows that the Jensen list was wrong when it stated the Spotted Elk and his family were all killed. Leonard Little Finger was interviewed by Jensen prior to his publication of this list so it does not surprise us. Dick was at Wounded Knee. He and other chiefs went to find Kicking Bear and Short Bull (Kicking Bear was the husband of Chief Spotted Elk's niece Woodpecker Woman) and he and the others returned prior to the "fight" Flying Horse was also a relative and he was one of the chiefs who was killed. Anyway, there are photographs showing Dick Spotted Elk a minor "Chief" in Washington DC at this time. The article was one month after Wounded Knee. He is wearing his grandfather's peace medal. In addition we have photographs taken of him at one of these society receptions. They were in a private gallery in New Mexico donated by the woman whose family took the photos. And while the description is less than flattering in the news article, Dick was a larger built man.
