( “the language of poetry comes from a place where that transformation has to begin ,that sort of intuitive ,creative , spiritual searching place that will be fuel for any kind of transformation process”)
Nandi Msezane
Born 19th May 1981
Her mother started a children’s safe house on the East Rand. The children came from neighbouring farms, where their parents had abandoned them. The centre then drew volunteers from all over the world, and gave Nandi the opportunity to travel around the world.
Nandi devoted her life since Standard eight in high school to being a children’s rights activist. She lived in India for a year lobbying against sex labour. In Thailand, Bankok, Malaysia and many more she spent several months at a time doing similar work.
In Feb 2004 she released an anthology of 20 poems, predominantly about her travels, love and spirit.
A few days after this she embarked on journey to Natal where she answered her calling as a Sangoma. She returned on the 10th of April and celebrated her homecoming the following weekend.
She now lives on a plot in Boksburg donated to her mother by 3M to house the 60+ children that live there now. She provides a spiritual base for the children.
