FLAP EMBELLISHMENT
Fold the bag fabric 6”to the wrongside at the upper end and press thefold to crease.This 8”x 6”rectangle isthe embellishment area and willbecome the fold-over front flap of thepurse.Using temporary spray adhesive,adhere stabilizer to the wrong side ofthe embellishment area.Stitch several rows of decorative stitches horizontallyacross the flap, changing colors and patterns as desired.The rows may be straight, parallel, slanted, and/or curvy;they may also cross each other.The sample shown hasabout 18 rows of stitching.Using the desired presser feet, couch various decorativeyarns, threads, and/or cords on top of the decorativestitching.The sample shown has 12 rows of couching –

505 temporary spray adhesiveI suggest using heavy or triplestitch patterns at widths of about 4mm and lengths of 3-4mmusing thread colors that contrast with the couched fibers.Press the embellished area with wrong side up, placinga towel under the stitched area and a press cloth ontop.Secure the short edges with a straight stitch(length 1.5mm

2mm);trim excess threadsand fibers.Add desired beadembellishment by hand.
PURSE CONSTRUCTION
Place bag and lining fabric right sides together;sew a

seam along the short end oppositethe embellishment.Flip the lining to the back ofthe bag fabric so that wrong sides are facing;press the seam flat.Flip the lining away from the bag fabric andfuse the fleece to the wrong side of the bagfabric, placing the fleece up to but not on top ofthe previously sewn seam;trim any excess.Flip the lining back onto the wrong side of thebag fabric;straighten andtrim all edges.Fold up thelower edge about 6
toform the body of the bag;pin in place.Bind the raw edges of thebag using a continuousbias strip.Fold the strip inhalf lengthwise and press.
