Cutting Out Material

Cut your patterns at the end of the ebook. Decide which fabrics you want to use on the purse and then cut your fabric accordingly. The patterns tell you how many to cut out and what each piece is for.

All seam allowances are inch.

Step 1 Take your lining panel and lining bottom and iron your fusible fleece to the wrong side. Now sew your lining panel together forming a circle. Once you have down that you will trim your excess seam allowance. You will attach the bottom lining section to the purse lining. Make sure right sides are together. Go along the edges and pin pin pin. (Check the picture below for a good visual on how to do this.) Make sure when you begin to sew you leave an opening big enough for turning later. Trim excess seam allowance except at the turning point.

Step 2 Take your three, main fabric, panels and sew them together forming three separate circles. Do the same for all of your ruffles. Serge or zigzag your ruffles only. It is not necessary to do this with any other piece in this project. Take your ruffles and hem the bottom after you have them forming a circle. Turn them under and then under again a . Sew.

Step 3 Gather the top of your ruffles at inch in your seam allowance. You may choose to zig zag over elastic or create a row of long stitches and pull. For this project the long stitches are very easy to do unless using heavy weight fabric. Step 4 Now attach one of the ruffles to one panel matching side seams. You will sew them together with the wrong side of the ruffle facing the right side of the panel. This will be your bottom section. Pin and adjust gathering to fit. Sew inch in. Attach panel two to the top of the one you just completed. Place this panel upside down so that you attach the bottom section of the panel to the top section of your already sewn piece. Be careful not to catch the ruffle while you sew. You will sew this in your seam allowance. Now trim and top stitch. It is time to sew your second ruffle. Attach it the same way as you did the first. Now add another panel and attach the third ruffle.

Step 5 Now it is time to sew your handle. Iron your stabilizer to the back side of one of your pieces. You will then sew them right sides together only along the long sides. Leave both ends open. Use a safety pin to flip right side out. Then you will press and topstitch.

Step 6 To find your handle placement you will want to mark a of the way around the circle in both directions from the seam. The seam needs to stay in the back. Use a needle or safety pin to mark this place. Attach the handle to the purse with right sides together. Sew about inch in. You will want to back stitch to help stabilize.

Step 7 Turn the main side of the purse inside out and pin the bottom to the purse like you did for the lining. Sew in place and trim. Make sure to sew all the way around the circle this time. Now turn your purse right side out again. Note: if you feel adding the bottom on at this point is difficult try adding it to the bottom panel before sewing any ruffles on.

Step 8 Place the main side of the bag inside of the lining with right sides together. Pin all your top, unsewn, edges. Watch out for the ruffles when you sew. Make sure when you sew over the handle that it is lying straight down. Sew and then trim.

Step 9 Pull bag through hole and then top stitch. The turning hole can either be sewn together by machine or slipstitched. Whichever you prefer will work.

Step 10 Your purse is now completed. You may choose to add ribbon or flowers at this point if you would like. Use your imagination. Have fun! Note: If you want to create a purse similar to the Halloween bag I have shown in a couple pictures you will create the purse in exactly the same manor except for leave off the ruffles. Follow the steps and just ignore adding ruffles.
