March 15, 2012Attn: Local Napa Valley Newspapers2012 April Fools Press Release. The 7th annual April Fools Bicycle Challenge is just around the corner. The April Fools Bicycle Challenge isa month long cycling event aimed at getting people on their bikes enjoying the beautiful spring weather. Wesupport all types of cycling including children and stationary bikes. Even miles on your unicycle count. Andas always this is a free event to participants.Exciting news this year is that a 3rd city has joined in on the fun – Napa. This is due to the wonderful non-profit Napa County Bike Coalition (aka Napa Bike). As in years past, in addition to getting more folks riding their bikes, we also use this energy to raise moneyfor great local charities. Over the past 5 years April Fools has raised in excess of $40,000 for the 2marvelous Upper Valley family centers. As always riders in Calistoga will be raising money for CalistogaFamily Center. Those in St. Helena will be raising money for St. Helena Family Center. In Napa there’s a bit of a twist in terms of raising money. The Board of Napa Bike has agreed to split theproceeds with Cope Family Center, continuing the tradition of local cyclist raising money for great localfamily centers. So Napa riders will be supporting 2 great local charities.Riders get their friends, family, and coworkers to offer pledges. Community members, serviceorganizations, and local businesses also offer pledges. Some of the local Calistoga businesses alreadysupporting this event are Calistoga Bikeshop, St. Helena Cyclery, Sportago, Missing Link Networks, andWellspring P.T. Anyone interested in supporting this event can send email to admin@bikingfools.org or visit the bikingfools.org website. You can also make a donation directly on the bikingfools.org website by going to the Donate Now page. The donations are through the secure Paypal system and all monies go directly to the charities associatedwith each city. We welcome pledges of any amount. If you want to ride in the April Fools Challenge simply go to www.bikingfools.org and register today.
