Elizabeth Walker Personal Statement As a life long learner, I would like to continue my education at ASU.

Since music is so important to me I feel that I need to be well rounded and continue to master my art through more experiences and knowledge of my instrument and the music that surrounds my life. I am ready to take on this new challenge and proceed on to success. I have done my undergraduate level of study at Azusa Pacific University and had the opportunity to play in many diverse groups in order to expand my experiences. I have studied many types of music such as Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th century and jazz. I was given the opportunity to be a leader as the principle chair in the symphony orchestra. I was able to practice my teaching skills by volunteering for the conservatory that is provided at APU for children who want to learn music, but do not have the means. Being a performance major helped me reach my goal thus far, having performance etiquette on stage and the discipline to take on the numerous hours of practice and performances. My goals in continuing on with my masters are to become a better performer as well as teacher to my students. Furthering my education will help me to pass down to others not only my enthusiasm and love for music as a whole, but to better able to insure that my students will get the best teacher possible.
