Q1: Define 3 entrepreneurs around you and give their rational of being anentrepreneur. Find out the problems and give your recommendation of getting themsucceed.
Pakistan International Airlines
Pakistan International Airlines (also referred to as PIA), is the national flag carrier of Pakistan and thenational airline operating passenger and cargo services around the world. PIAC has first and vey famousairline in Pakistan, it has more fleet than any other airline operating from Pakistan. This is the first Asianairline that touches down in Norway.
Rational of being entrepreneur
This is the first airline which started electronic ticketing in Asia. It has more destinations to fly ondifferent routes than other airlines operating in Pakistan. It has been fulfilling social corporateresponsibility that leads PIAC to entrepreneurship like PIA Planetariums, PIA Horticulture, Supportingfor Non-Profit Organizations and Training and Education sector like PIA Training Center, ModelSecondary School, PIA Industrial Training Institute. The PIA Planetariums enable the viewing of virtual universes, replete with stars, planets, and nebulae andvisitors throng the planetariums to look at astronomical phenomena such as eclipses, alien landscapes, planets, and the sun. PIA is the only airline in the world to have invested in an innovative and educationalplanetarium project that is open to the general public at affordable rates.PIA Planetarium is located nearChouberji chowk where an PIA airliner is fixed and it is used to entertain with astronomical phenomenon. As a responsible corporate citizen PIA has a special social commitment which it takes very seriously. PIAis engaged and actively supports various social projects. As part of its corporate social responsibilityinitiatives, PIA fully sponsors Al-Shifa Trust, which provides relief and rehabilitation services to specialchildren suffering from cerebral palsy and other motor disorders. Besides this, PIA has been providinghelp to charities and trusts. The PIA Training Center is a leading airline training institution that delivers the highest standards of aviation instruction. The Training Center is built around a highly advanced training infrastructure, approved by local and international regulatory authorities such as CAA, ICAO, and IATA. The PIAModel Secondary School was set up in 1980 to provide high quality education to the children of PIA'semployees at an affordable fee.
The main problem is that PIAC is going down into loss due to many factors like mismanagement, organization overcrowded, and demotivating employees and due to major political influence. PIAC islosing her values/norms and respect/image in international market.
PIAC has 51% government shares and 49% shares are private entity. We recommend it to be successful if political influence on it would be less and its operations would run smoothly then PIAC can get herrespect back.
Best Low-fare Airline
Air Tran Airways
When Air Tran landed its first Business Travel Award in 1998, it was a small upstart airline, flying older,hand-me-down jets, and considered nothing more than a nuisance by the major carriers. Now it towersover them in terms of profitability and customer satisfaction.
Rational of being entrepreneur
None of its fleet of new Boeing jets is more than five years old. And this year, Air Tran will probably join the ranks of "major" carriers or those with more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Over the years,Air Tran has followed a smart--but slow--path to success in the airline industry, winning over value-conscious business travelers and companies fed up with major airlines. That's because of its low fares andcommon-sense approach to air travel.
For example, fares rarely exceed $100 each way for tickets bought at least 21 days in advance, and walk-up fares rarely exceed $300 each way. It also offers A-Plus Rewards, a simple frequent-flier program thatrewards members with a free one-way flight for every eighth one-way trip flown. Air Tran sets itself apartfrom other low-fare carriers by offering two classes of service--coach and business class
that is notfound on airlines like JetBlue or Southwest. Best of all, standby upgrades to its business class cabin(identical to first-class cabins of major airlines) cost just $35 to $75.To keep passengers entertained on its transcontinental runs, Air Tran plans to install XM Satellite Radioonboard its fleet this year, offering passengers 100 channels of live news, sports, music and games fromevery seat back.
Best Major Airline
Southwest Airlines
No other major airline has brought more value to more 1budget-conscious business travelers thanSouthwest. After 31 consecutive profitable years, this airline now ranks as the largest carrier in the nationin terms of passengers carried.
Rational of being entrepreneur
A southwest airline is an example of entrepreneurship in aviation industry due to its services and majorbusiness network. Once the model that low-fare carriers aspired to, Southwest has become the model forthe entire airline industry. If someone is enjoying low airfares anywhere in the country, he can thank Southwest for bringing them to you, either directly or indirectly. Despite its name, Southwest is now amajor carrier with influence reaching beyond its Sun Belt focus to 60 cities, including Northern citiessuch as Chicago; Long Island, New York; and Philadelphia. It's now also the biggest carrier in Floridaand at Chicago-Midway airport, where it picked up the assets of bankrupt ATA.For small businesses, Southwest offers SWABiz.com, a free tool that allows travelers to plan, book andpurchase tickets on Southwest.com, while providing purchasing reports to the company. Rapid Rewards, its frequent-flier program, is the only major frequent-flier program that doesn't limit the number of seatsavailable for award travel.Southwest offers more than just low fares. It has one of the newest, all-Boeing fleets in the industry andleads in airline on-time performance. But don't expect a first-class section, an airport lounge or onboard
