A fact is a statement that can be corroborated - it expresses only what actually happened, or what could be proven by objective data.

Example: The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan. An opinion expresses an attitude toward something it makes a judgment, preference, view, conclusion, or gives an opinion that cannot be proven true or false. Example: Puerto Rico is more beautiful than Mexico. (This is an opinion because someone from Mexico can argue that his country is more beautiful and there is no actual prove that either country is more beautiful than the other.)
