Maxwell Chungu, Is a bonafide member at the YWCA mens network. he has worked us a mens network programmes coordinator and is currently working on piloting a programme called the good husband campaign on gender based violence in one of the compounds in Lusaka, . he has and is also working as a legal assistant and a counsellor at the YWCA main drop in centre in Lusaka where service provision includes client referrals Client walk ins Group individual, child and family counselling. Men healing sessions Paralegal and legal aid provision Conflict resolution and management. Court and case follow ups Mens monthly meetings called Insakas Partner networking Media and community sensitizations Research and statistics compilation.

WHAT ROLE HAS THE LEADER PLAYED IN CHAMPIONING GENDER AND GBV ACTIVITIES?
The leader has been working as a gender activist doing programmes on preventive measures. The leader has played the role of trainer (TOT) of trainers and has also currently working as a counsellor and legal assistant at the YWCA mens network at the centre for five years in addressing incidents of sexual and gender based violence activities. The leader has been actively playing the role of a consultant activists and facilitator of GBV programmes over the last six years. LEADERSHIP

HOW HAS THE LEADER INFLUENCED THE LEVEL OF BUY IN AND INVOLVEMENT OF MANAGEMENT IN ISSUES OF GENDER & GBV?
The leader has participated in local and international conferences as well featured on local media station addressing gender related topics. The leader has also facilitated mobilisation, recruitment and sensitization of male involvement on preventive measures on sexual and gender based violence. He has also influenced the Institutionalizing of GBV issues at middle and senior management.

The leader has been known within the institution as well as community for advocating human rights for women and children and also for championing awareness of male involvement in addressing GBV . In partnerships with CBOS community schools and other non governmental organisations.

The leader joined YWCA as a volunteer but has been working on different projects since he joined.

As a facilitator the leader has been training and sharing information during management and other meetings also the leader has been supervising students who come on attachments on gender related work at the institution.

WHAT RESULTS/ IMPACT HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED AND HOW CAN THESE BE LINKED TO PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE LEADER?
There has been an increase of cases being reported of gender related issues both at institutional level and community level both male and female awareness on gender related issues. The leader stands out to be an exemplary figure to men for championing male involvement which is usually looked at with mixed feeling from men and the local community lagging behind on issues of GBV.

GIVE ONE SHORT STORY/ ANECDOTE THAT ILLUSTRATES THE PASSION OF THIS LEADER
Recently the leader has been working hand in hand with the coordinator of the YWCA men network on piloting a project called the good husband campaign to end violence. The campaign targets men in the local community. The leader has with the supervision of university students has designed a research tool being administered in in one of the compounds in Lusaka.
