The Taylor Fire Fighters do not want to be over-staffed, we want to be safely staffed As recent as last year we were... In 2001 we had 72 members 16 per day January 2011 61 members 14 per day July 2011 37 members 10 per day February 2012 23 members 5 per day July 2012 15 members 4 per day
Each year the Taylor Fire Department responds to approximately 8,000 calls for help. According to national standards a fire department protecting more than 60,000 residents in a 24 square mile area should be staffed with the above mentioned 72 firefighters. The fire department, while operating below the standard, had been able to provide adequate response with limited risk to the public and ourselves. This stopped last July.

Please check any of the nationally accepted standards to see just how unsafe Taylor is: The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Fire Chiefs (IAFC) United States Fire Administration (USFA)
