MARINERS SET 30-MAN ROSTER FOR TRIP TO JAPAN

PEORIA, Ariz. --
Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager
announced the 30-manroster that will be traveling to Japan today.All players on the 30-man roster will be eligible to play in the two exhibition games vs. the Hanshin Tigers (March 25) andYomiuri Giants (March 26).The Mariners will then set a 28-man roster prior to the
Japan Opening Series
games vs. the A’s (March 28 & 29). Hereare some specifics on the roster situation for the series vs. the A’s:
Only 25 of the 28 players on the roster will be eligible to play in the games.
Players on the 28-man roster do not have to physically be in Japan.
Players on the 28-man roster must be on the 40-man roster.
3 of the players of the 28 must be designated as not eligible to participate in the two-game series. Those players do not haveto travel to Japan to be on the 28-man roster.
Teams can make a roster move to activate players that traveled to Japan, but were not on the 28-man roster.
The Mariners also announced that LHP
has been outrighted to AAA Tacoma. The Major League 40-manroster is now at 37 players.Here is a look at the 30-man roster for the trip to Japan:
