Dear John Sedgwick Junior High School Families, I would like to inform you about an incident that occurred at school today. A Student was found to be in possession of a handgun. The gun was unloaded and not used in a threatening manner. The students that witnessed this reported it to adults and law enforcement was contacted. School Administration and the Kitsap County Sheriffs department worked cooperatively and immediately took care of the situation. Staff and students were not in danger at anytime. Safety is our top priority. As with today and all situations, we take all precautions to keep our students and staff safe. I want to thank the students who reported this situation and made our school a safe place for all. Please continue to talk with your children about school safety and encourage them to share with adults any information regarding potentially dangerous situations. As always, in the event that the information is school related please dont hesitate to call me directly at 874-6091.

Sincerely,

Jay Villars Principal
