Dai:
So Darren, it’s not long now until Christmas, are youlooking forward to it?
Darren:
Yes and no. I dolike Christmas, the spirit of Christmas, I believe it doesbring people closer together, but the thing I find year upon year that’s becoming moreand more tiresome for me isthe pressure put on people, especially families with young children, to spend lots andlots of money. I think thetrue meaning of Christmas islessening year upon year.
Dai:
Right. What is the truemeaning of Christmas then?
Darren:
Well I think it’s likeI said it’s families getting together and people showing kindness to one another. Ithink that should happen allthe time mind, but I think atChristmas people do gettogether and you see peopleand you wish them a Merry Christmas and it’s a really lovely atmosphere to be inover a couple of weeks overthe whole Christmas period. That is what I really do enjoy about Christmas, but as Isaid I think it’s becoming toocommercialized

Dai:
Wow, it sounds like it would put a lot of pressure onfamilies.
Darren:
Yeah, I think itdoes. That’s in general, butespecially at Christmas Ireally do feel for some of thefamilies who obviously arestruggling with finances. I’dlike that to not detract from what Christmas is really about which is a great timeand we have got a fairly big family and we do do a lot of visiting and we have greattimes at Christmas and weprobably do too much on thefood and drink.
Dai:
Food and drink: like what kind ... you know, whatare your favorite bits aboutthe food and drink?
Darren:
I always loveChristmas dinner. The turkey is always cooked toperfection and wherever we go the cooking is usually absolutely spot on. No matterhow much we eat of Christmas dinner, there’salways room left for a bit of Christmas pudding as well.
Dai:
Christmas pudding?
Darren:
Yeah, it’s a very rich, fruit

based pudding which you can usually have with either brandy sauce, which is the only time of the year you ever eat brandy sauce, or with something likecream or custard.
Dai:
Oh, OK. And what doesit taste like then?
Darren:
It’s very, very rich. It’s one of those things where you either love it or you hateit. I think I’m the only one inmy family who eatsChristmas pudding, which is great news for me because itmeans I’ve got it all to myself, but I do su
