CACTUS LEAGUE ACTION:
The Padres are 15-10…San Diegohas nine contests remaining in Arizona before breaking camp oneweek from today 4/1…have a workout on 4/2 followed by two gamesagainst the Royals (4/3 at Petco Park and 4/4 in Lake Elsinore)...including today, have two remaining split-squad dates (3/27, 31)…already played four split-squad days (3/7, 3/14, 3/22, 3/24).
HOT STREAK:
The Padres have won 12 of their last 15 games…over that stretch, are hitting .301 (156-for-518) with 6.0 runs-per-game and posting a 3.29 ERA (49 ER/134.0 IP) with 115 strikeoutsagainst 30 walks.
GETTING ON:
Padres lead all National League squads this Springwith a team .361 on-base percentage and rank second with a .288(249-for-865) average and a .457 slugging percentage.
YESTERDAY’S ACTION:
San Diego beat the Dbacks yesterday bya score of 4-3 at home in Peoria…RHP Dustin Moseley made thestart and worked 6.0 innings, allowing just one run on seven hitsand no walks while striking out three for the win…RHP Joe Wielandfollowed up with 3.0 innings and allowed two runs on six hits…OFMark Kotsay and INF Yonder Alonso each collected a pair of hits.
TODAY’S STARTER:
RHP Tim Stauffer makes his fifth start todayon the road against the Cubs…turned in his best performance of theSpring his last time out against the Dodgers at Camelback Ranchlast Wednesday, working 6.0 scoreless innings and allowing justthree hits and no walks.
ROSTER MOVES:
The Padres today placed INF Logan Forsytheon the 15-day DL with a left foot sesamoid fracture and reassignedRHP Brad Boxberger to minor league camp.

With today’s moves the Padres have 40 playersin Big League camp, including 31 players on the 40-man rosterand nine non-roster invitees…the squad features 18 pitchers (foursouthpaws), four catchers, 12 infielders and seven outfielders...the club entered camp with 16 players on the 40-man roster whowere not at the beginning of 2011 Spring.
SPRING FORWARD:
Six players currently in Major League campwith 10-or-more games are batting .300 or better…the list includesMatt Clark (.483), Mark Kotsay (.364), Will Venable (.359), JonathanGalvez (.357), Yasmani Grandal (.345) and Yonder Alonso (.316).
WILLING AND ABLE:
Will Venable is hitting .359 (14-for-39) withsix doubles and six stolen bases in 14 games…leads the squadthis Spring in stolen bases and doubles.
OUT YONDER:
Yonder Alonso is currently seven for his last 12at-bats over his last four games…is hitting .316 (18-for-57) totalon the Spring, leading the club in hits.
LOS CUBANOS:
Combined this Spring, Yonder Alonso and Yas-mani Grandal are hitting a collective ..326 (28-for-86) with eightextra-base hits.
YOU SERIOUS CLARK?:
Matt Clark is hitting .483 (14-for-29) withtwo doubles, three home runs, nine RBI and eight runs scored in18 games played this Spring…tied for the team lead in RBI.
FAST CASH:
RHP Andrew Cashner has worked 8.0 innings, allow-ing just the one run on six hits and three walks while striking out 11.
THE FUTURE:
Four of the Padres Top 10 prospects, according to
Baseball America,

Baseball America’s 
ranking of theTop 100 prospects also included Alonso (33), Grandal (53), Kelly(76) and Jedd Gyorko (98)…in total, the club had six players fea-tured in the top 100 which were tied for the most among all clubs(also, Athletics, Cardinals and Rangers).
ROOKIE ROUND-UP:
10 of the 40 players currently in camp willqualify as rookies in the 2012 season, with four of those 10 on the40-man roster...the four consist of Brad Brach, Yasmani Grandal,James Darnell and Andy Parrino.
