The first drinking water applications with HDPE pipes started in 1960s in USA and Canada, and the projects that had
been done then, are still in service without problems

FIRAT produces PE 100 pipes between diameters 20 - 1600 mm, PE 80 natural gas pipes
between diameters 20 - 315 mm, PE 32 LDPE drinking water pipes between diameters 20 - 160 mm and PE 63 HDPE
drinking water pipes between diameters 20 - 160 mm.
The pipes are produced in coils up to 125 mm, and the diameters above 125 mm are produced in 12 m length, apart
from this, production upon request is available.

They have flexibility. This helps when joining the pipes. Elongation at break is minimum 600%.

Pressure decreasing coefficients related to heat

The PE pipe systems design has been made for 20C. The maximum working heat is 40C.
But if there will be ongoing flow with degrees over 20C, the pipe should be chosen related
to the below coefficients.
Heat (C)

Coefficient (fT)

Interpolation can be made for the in between heat intervals

The allowable working pressure PFA, is calculated from the equation below.
PFA = fT x fA x PN
fT
fA
PN

: Pressure lowering coefficient

: Increase or decrease factor fA= 1 according to usage (in water fast)

6.3 Stability Buckling Force

Stability buckling calculation will be necessary in projects in which over-tension will arise by additional load,
