When I rst got to the Marina I bought an engineless1977 Catalina 30 for $7,000. I think the guy whoowned it wanted 13 for it. I said to my broker Larry,“you think he’d take 10”? He replied, “offer him7.” I did and the guy said, “sure.”I was told the owner was an older guy who didn’tuse it and that his son was the one who really ownedthe boat for all practical purposes. But for whateverreason he was selling.A few weeks after I bought “Good Lufn’” Iran into a guy on the dock and he said: “You gotBarbiturate Bob’s old boat huh?”“Who?”
