For man sheet metal components the dr, rust free, SCS productoffers the great adantage that it does not need to be degreasedbefore the material is painted. SCS sheets are also inherentl flatterdue to the coil being tension leelled during the SCS cleaning proc-ess. Punch tool life with SCS is better than normal HR. The SCS drsurface stas rust free and read for the net production process.

LASER CUTTING

Oil, dirt, and scale on the sheetsurface can cause diffraction,and rust can cause auto shut-off due to ecessie surfaceariation.The SCS surface is so smooth,clean and flat that laser andplasma cutting speeds can beincreased b as much as 50%,while ‘springbac’ is reduced oreliminated. SCS sheets are alsoinherentl flatter due to the coilbeing tension leelled during the SCS cleaning process.

WELDING

Oil maes welding more difficult; it attracts ecess dirt, degradesweld integrit and increases the leel of hazardous fumes. Cleanersteel maes better welds, so with HR blac ou either clean (eengrind!) the area to weld, or letweld integrit suffer.Clean SCS welds better, giing a more uniform, stronger bead.SCS has no oil smoe so metal-lic particulates disperse muchless. This is important for safe-guarding our welders’ respira-tor health.

PREP AND PAINTING

HR blac needs etensie cleanup before painting, plus phosphating pre-treatment to obtain accept-able adherence and corrosion resistance. P&O steel needs epensie, multi-stage pre-treatmentbefore painting. Anthing less degrades its corrosion resistance.A lean 2-stage rinse is all that’s needed to prep SCS for most applications.
