announced that the 17 young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) activistsaboard the bus will be visiting the New Orleans area next week from Sunday, April1 throughThursday, April 5.
In conjunction with the New Orleans stop, the “Equality Ride” will hold a discussion
onintersectional justice with the University of New Orleans UNITY group on Monday, April 2 andvisit New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) on Tuesday, April 3 to protest theschool's discriminatory policies against LGBTQ people and their allies.While at
NOBTS, the “Equality Ride”
activists will deliver a message of acceptance and supportfor students, faculty and staff living in silence and fear. The non-violent protest will address theschool
’s anti
-LGBTQ policies and its lack of an anti-discrimination or bullying policy that wouldspecifically protect the rights and safety of all students, regardless of their sexual orientation orgender identity.
