Ruthless Rhymes

I came across this classic form of English humorous verse recently and decided to try my hand at it, modifying the concept slightly by creating a four verse story instead of the one verse.

Normally, ruthless rhymes are between four and eight lines long and consist of two elements: a gruesome action by one character followed by a nonchalant response from another. The secret to a successful Ruthless Rhyme is the ability to relate commonplace situations with a sardonic twist. The poem should be a combination of lightheartedness and callousness. Invented by Harry Graham, a Coldstream Guard, he made his name as the author of 'Ruthless Rhymes for Heartless Homes', published in 1898 under the pseudonym Col. D. Streamer.
