Ladies and Gentleman. Allow me to introduce myself.

I am Chloe Tay, as the Agricultural Specialist working under the Ministry of Agriculture and I will give a talk about nutrients. I am here to explain more about nutrients. First of all, allow me to introduce about nutrients, Nutrition is defined as the processes by which an animal or plant takes in and utilizes food substances. Nutrition is the science of food and its relationship to health. Nutrients are the building blocks of the human body. They are chemicals in foods that are used by the body for growth, maintenance, disease prevention, health restoration, and energy. Nutrients is basically a resource that humans absorbs. Every human will have nutrients in their body, even animals. There are also many nutrients around us, all the foods we eat, we can get all these nutrients. Vitamins B, Calcium, Carbohydrates, Cholesterol, Fat, Fiber, Folic Acid, Incomplete Proteins, Iron, Niacin, Protein, Riboflavin, Saturated Fats, Sodium, Thiamin, Unsaturated facts, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. There are still many different nutrients but these is the common ones. Nutrition is essential for growth and development, health and wellbeing. Eating a healthy diet contributes to preventing future illness and improving quality and length of life. Your nutrients is determined by what you have eaten. There are some nutrients which could damage our body, however there are also some nutrients gives us many Vitamins. Its all depending on what we eat. However, lack of nutrients also gives us sickness. It gives us, kwashiorkor, marasmus, depression, irritability, confusion, pellagra, scurvy, immune deficiency, osteoporosis, diabetes, rickets, beriberi, goiter, insomnia, anxiety, mood disorders, anaemia, retardation, cancer... and more. Where nutrient comes from? Nutrients also comes from mineral nutrients used by plants comes from the soil, water and air in which they grow. For most animals, minerals and organic molecules are obtained from plants that are eaten or animals that have eaten plants. Humans often add mineral nutrients as supplements to processed food such as salt, phosphates, potassium, and calcium. With rain and several days over 60 degrees, the green grass is beginning to push through the brown. Soon it will be ready for the cattle, sheep, and pigs to graze, turning one of the worlds most ubiquitous plant varieties into meat.

Essential and non-essential nutrient Nutrients are frequently categorized as essential or nonessential. Essential nutrients are unable to be synthesized internally and so must be consumed by an organism from its environment. Nonessential nutrients are those nutrients that can be made by the body, they may often also be absorbed from consumed food. The majority of animals ultimately derive their essential nutrients from plants, though some animals may consume mineral-based soils to supplement their diet. For humans, these include essential fatty acids, essential amino acids, vitamins, and certain dietary minerals. Oxygen and water are also essential for human survival, but are generally not considered "food" when consumed in isolation. Humans can derive energy from a wide variety of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, and can synthesize other needed amino acids from the essential nutrients. Non-essential substances within foods can still have a significant impact on health, whether beneficial or toxic. For example, most dietary fiber is not absorbed by the human digestive tract, but is important in digestion and absorption of otherwise harmful substances. Interest has recently increased in phytochemicals, which include many non-essential substances which may have health benefits. Deficiencies and Toxicity An inadequate amount of a nutrient is a deficiency. Deficiencies can be due to a number of causes including inadequacy in nutrient intake called dietary deficiency. Some of the conditions that can interfere with nutrient utilization include problems with nutrient absorption, substances that causes a greater than normal need for a nutrient, conditions that causes nutrient destruction, and conditions that causes greater nutrient excretion. Nutrient toxicity occurs when an excess of a nutrient does harm to an organism. In plants, there are five types of deficiency or toxicity symptoms that are in common: 1. Chlorosis - yellowing of plant tissue caused by a shortage of chlorophyll synthesis. 2. Necrosis - which is the death of plant tissue. 3. Accumulation of anthocynanin - which produces a purple or reddish colorization of foliage and/or stems. 4. Lack of new growth. 5. Stunting or reduced growth - where new growth is stunted or reduced.

Oversupply of plant nutrients in the environment can cause excessive plant and growth of algae. Eutrophication may cause imbalances in population numbers and other nutrients that can be harmful to certain species. For example, an algal bloom can deplete the oxygen available for fish to breathe. Causes include water pollution from sewage or runoff from farms. Nitrogen and phosphorus are most commonly the limiting factor in growth, and thus the most likely to trigger eutrophication when introduced artificially.

Food Web All food web starts with a green plant, ends with a very great thing like human or lion or tigers. Food web is a food chain is like reducing having the process over and over again. There are many, many examples of food webs. The organisms in a food web vary depending on the ecosystem where they live. Every animal's ecosystem is in a different way. No matter where the food web is, it always starts with the sun. Any organism that can get energy directly from the sun is called a producer, and any organism that needs to eat another organism to get energy is called a consumer. The food we human eat it can be called food web. Its a cycle of it, for example, Egg > Chicken > Humans. Eventually we humans get the food and we are the tertiary consumer. However, in the canteen they cooked many foods for all the students to eat, this is a very great example for us. Normally, the food in the canteen would be, rice, chicken, vegetables and fish and maybe some noodles. It all comes from the food web. Usually, it all comes from animals and some of it comes from grains. A food web is like, Grains > Chicken > Humans. It is always we human will be the tertiary consumer. Publics food and Canteens food are the same. There are not much different in it. There are all cooked by humans and eat by us. Therefore, we get the food by the cycle of food web, which is animals. We always can get food with animals, but these days, the publics food and canteens food is slightly different, there are many foods are made of powder these days, we just need to have water and mix it and it turns out food, these are some of the public foods. So, it aint having animals as a food cycle these days. But however, for the canteens food, its always home cook. So, its slightly different from outsides food.

Conclusion If we continue killing animals for we humans, in the public world, it would be a disaster for us. Good nutritional habits and a balanced diet aren't developed in one day, nor are they destroyed in one unbalanced meal. Healthy eating means a lifestyle of making choices and decisions, planning, and knowing how to make quick and wise choices when you haven't planned. Eating vegetables everyday maintains our health. We, humans, need the adequate amount of nutrients each day so that in the future, we will live healthily and our time of living on Earth is longer.
