OPENING DAY HISTORY:
The Padres enter this afternoon’s game having won four of their last six Opening

The Padres today announced that they have placed RHP Tim Stauffer on the 15-day disabled list and recalled RHP Brad Brach from Triple-A Tucson...in addition, the club announced onTuesday that they had selected OF Jeremy Hermida from Triple-A Tucson, placed OF Carlos Quentin (rightknee) and INF/OF Mark Kotsay (right calf) on the 15-day disabled list and optioned RHP Brad Brach andINF Everth Cabrera to Triple-A Tucson...the club’s Opening Day roster features nine right-handed pitchers,three left-handed pitchers, two catchers, six inelders and ve outelders…six players are making their rstappearance on a Major League team’s Opening Day roster, including RHPs Anthony Bass and Brad Brachand INFs Yonder Alonso, Jesus Guzman and Andy Parrino…INF Logan Forsythe, who starts the season onthe disabled list, is also considered on an Opening Day roster for the rst time in his career.

The Padres wrapped up Spring Training with a 20-16 record, ranking fourth inthe Cactus League, second among National League clubs and rst among their NL West rivals...the club n

ished the Spring slate by winning 17 of their nal 26 games...at the conclusion of Spring Training, the Padresled all NL clubs in runs scored, home runs, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage...they topped all Major League teams in slugging percentage and runs scored...leading the way were sevenplayers on the current roster who nished the Spring with a batting average of .300 or better, including NickHundley (.432), Will Venable (.349), Kyle Blanks (.325), Chris Denora (.323), Yonder Alonso (.312), JesusGuzman (.308) and Jeremy Hermida (.306).
WHAT A RELIEF:
The eight Padres relievers named to the club’s Opening Day roster combined to go 8-4with a 3.69 ERA (35 ER/85.1 IP) this Spring...their performance was led by stellar Springs from RHP AndrewCashner (10.0 IP) and LHP Joe Thatcher (9.1 IP), who each allowed just one run over the course of the Cac
