net GENERAL NOTES

We are going to SPREAD you then BEAT you. Just because we are a spread team: doesnt mean we are soft. Being physical on the offensive line translates to the defense, which means more physical and productive practices Finesse means losing. Schemes are beautiful, MATCH-UPS WIN We use a DPMO formula for WRsDont Piss Me Off. We FISH, when we throw the footballCATCH and RELEASE. We dont have a lot of Pass concepts because of the time devoted to our run game.

Shotgun Zone Read Play Action Passing Game

1. Utilize on run downs. The run fake should model you most
successful run 2. Turn your lineman loose and dont worry about them being down field. We teach to the QB to release the ball quickly. 3. Your pass concept concepts should include a CROSSING concept

and a VERTICAL concept.

4. This portion of the offense has great home run potential

Shotgun Zone Gap Run Game DART

The puller has one simple assignment. HIM block. The HIM is the Middle LB. This eliminates confusion which can lead to a missed assignment.

No What if he does ______? because the answer is block HIM We want to direct the Dart at a B Gap Bubble whenever it is possible.

Teach the Dart Scheme - In Three Parts Front side Tackle Combo Block Area and Pull

Coaching Points: #1 Stay on combination block as long as possible. The counter fake will slow down the backside backer. #2 Use Pop step on the play side. Pick up spark games. #3 Plays side tackle - Collect the tackle if crosses your face and gap block. Collect B gap blitz if he is at heals depth. #4 Backside tackle must eye the tail of the tackle. If you see it - Isolate the LB. If turns away prepare to trap.

Program Development
You outcoach people through the year, not just Friday nights. Warren Central has a great relationship with the Marines, Semper Fi means Always Faithful.

The biggest mistake a new head coach can make is not respecting tradition at the school. If there is not a tradition, find one by looking at the schools history.
Coach Hart uses the Urban Meyers philosophy about celebrating and rewarding great behavior. When you separate great behavior, the players have individual incentives that add up as a team. This can motivate individuals without totally isolating them.

The biggest difference you can make is in the middle school programs.
Parent meetings When the meeting is about playing timethe players should be present. When the meeting is about behavior, then only the parent should be present. Coach Hart handed out a great packet. Contact info jhart@warren.k12.in.us 317-869-4679

USF Vertical Passing Game

Objectives and thoughts

1. We use it to create BIG PLAYS 2. It makes the defense honor the deep pass, which loosens the defense. 3. Run the concept on FIRST and SECOND down NOT THIRD down! 4. Why switch the boundary WRs? This makes it easier to avoid underneath traffic

5/6 Man Pass Protections

TECHNIQUES 1. Win one on one reps with the set up point. By choosing the path you will take to set up and engage the defender on their path to the quarterback. I stress that set up point is the most important aspect of winning one on one reps. For instance, if a defender is in a wide alignment we can set vertical (straight back) or kick sink (45 degree angle) depending on which set we think will give us the best chance to win the rep. Tight alignments we use vertical, kick sink, or power (gain no depth with our set). 2. Protect inside first. 70% weight inside. 3. Build the wall of fat. Stay square and keep hips square. 4. OL should be HIP to HIP when passing defenders. 5. Punch and Defend your QB with aggression. TWO BASIC TYPES: Vertical Set and Power Set PROTECTION SCHEME 1. Teach your Scheme once. Make sure you have a scheme and rule system that you believe in. Install this system on day one and stick with it. I do not believe in adjusting protection rules on a weekly or daily basis to try and counter a defenses blitzes. 2. Choose what you want to be good at, then practice it every day. I believe in spending more time on technique and less time on trying to pick up every possible scenario they could throw at you. 3. Study and read your opponent, but prepare your players to be great at what they must do to have success. Teach them which situations to use them in: Speed Rusher Vertical, Bull Rusher Power, Kick Sink, Twist Scheme Vertical, etc.

Attacking Defenses in the Red Zone General Notes You get what you emphasize. QB should a 2 ball instead of a 3 ball. They only run MESH in the endzone. They love to run EMPTY formations, clears up the picture. UP TEMPO and putting pressure on the defense General Notes Attack the opponent with extreme pace in a no huddle format Force the opponent to defend multiple personnel groups and formations Defense must react to personnel and formational changes while the ball is being snapped quickly.

Use a practice play list. Put plays on the QBs wristband. When creating the Practice Play List Use to break previous weeks tendencies Focus on US not the defense of the week Add new formations before adding new plays Add simple plays only late in the practice week

General Notes

Dont over coach the RBs once they get to the Line of Scrimmage
Why Pistol? Ball quicker to RB. .35 average time to QB, under center .75(4yd) QB quicker to Depth of Pocket .95 average time pistol +3, under center 1.35(+5)

Conclusion: We gain almost second from being under center!!!

General Notes

Train the QBs eyes, peripheral vision, scanning

Throwing Never overthrow a slant route Dont hitch step on quick throws instead HANG or pause. The exception would be Quick Fade Be decisive on goalline throws Theory Why does the Hitch get picked off? Because you havent run Hitch and GO!!

Get it on game film, so the defense is aware of it!

On 3rd and 4run Hitch and GO, Slant and GO, you can always go for it on 4th and 4!
