About this ebook
From the beloved author of Prayers That Avail Much® comes fresh inspiration for powerful living that will take you on a day-by-day prayer excursion toward God’s heart.
Why does prayer matter in your day-to-day life? In a time and age where many have reduced prayer and God Himself to the “Great Vending Machine in the Sky,” Germaine stresses that the primary goal of prayer is unbroken fellowship with the eternal God of heaven and earth. 365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life will encourage you to dig deeper and gain a stronger understanding of the purpose of prayer by unpacking core Biblical themes such as joy, unity, spiritual gifts, overcoming fear, the Holy Spirit, walking in love, and the power of words. Each day’s entry includes a Biblically informed message, a Scripture-based prayer, and a suggested Bible reading.
For anyone who wonders if God’s Word and prayer can make a difference, and for those who long for a closer walk with God, the devotional entries in 365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life are clear: God loves you and wants to impact every area of your life. His promises are true…and His mercies are new every morning.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. – I John 5:14-15

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Germaine Copeland wrote a devotional book that is a cut above others. Like many other daily devotional books, Ms. Copeland gives a short thought for the day followed by a prayer. In the three months that I have used "365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life" for my morning devotional time, her writing has blessed me in many ways. However, the feature that sets this devotional book apart from others is the time and attention Ms. Copeland took to include the Bible references that are the foundation for the thought of the day. A person who reads the Bible passages printed on the bottom of the page and then uses the prayer as a starting point to talk with God will discover a richer and more rewarding relationship with Him. Thank You, Germaine Copeland, for including so much Truth in such a small book. (Early Reviewers book)
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5365 Days to a Prayer Filled Life is a daily devotional book set up with a story and prayer for each day of the year. The upside of this book is that it covers a wide range of topics so there is always something new to find each day of the week. Many yearly devotionals seem to run out of steam and repeat the same general ideas over and over, fortunately 365 Days to a Prayer Filled Life does not fall into this practice. Unfortunately this book is often too general, an unfortunate consequence of all mass-marketed devotionals. 356 Days to a Prayer Filled Life is also written from a singular Christian perspective which will undoubtedly be appealing for some but may serve as a detriment to others seeking devotionals designed to increase their personal spiritual relationship with God.For the most part 365 Days to a Prayer Filled Life is just what you would expect from a daily devotional aimed at a Christian audience. It is often inspiring and a cause for reflection but it rarely challenges the reader to discover new ways of entering into prayerful dialogue.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have several devotional books that I use daily and I have only used 365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life for a week. So far, I am impressed to find it scripturally sound and well written. The messages are somewhat generic in that they can fit into everyone's experience at one point or another in their life. Some have seemed to be just what I needed for that day - others less useful - but so far, I like the soundness of the devotion, and the prayers are especially useful as I find it sometimes hard to put words to my own prayers. Overall, this can be useful as part of a daily time with God, whether used alone, or as part of other Bible readings or studies.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was not at all what I expected. I had expected a series of “exercises,” as it were, designed to build my ability to pray. I was thinking along the lines of gradually increasing the time I pray, different ways to pray, various topics to focus on during prayer, etc. But this is not really a book about prayer! What it is, is a dated devotional. For each day of the year, there is a one-page devotional consisting of three sections. The first section varies. Many of them are what I would call “affirmations,” based on Scripture. Some of them are anecdotes or other means of illustrating or explaining Scriptural concepts. Following this section is a short prayer based on the same theme. Finally, several Scripture references are offered, including several that are used as references for the first two sections and one that is a longer suggested reading. As a devotional, it does seem to be good. It just isn’t the prayer-focused book I was expecting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5By happily agreeing to review it, I obtained a copy of 365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life (2010) by Germaine Copeland from participation in Library Thing's Early Reviewer program. How do you approach the Bible? Graded and ordered by difficulty, we can approach the Bible devotionally, topically, textually, expositorially, exegetically, or critically. Are you a serious student of the Bible? Then choose a Bible study method from the higher end of the scale. Are you a preacher or Sunday school teacher? Then choose a Bible study method from the middle of the scale. Are you interested in finding spiritual helps for daily living? Then choose a Bible study method from the lower end of the scale.365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life is a spiritual helper at the devotional level of Bible reading. Experienced readers of daily devotions will find a familiar pattern to the book's contents. The chronological arrangement of readings by month and day eliminates the need for page numbers, a table of contents, or an index. Each day's reading is complete on one page. From top to bottom, every page consists of a title, thoughts about the topic, a short prayer that's on topic, some relevant Scripture references, and a suggested Bible reading. (The difference between Scripture references and suggested Bible readings has primarily to do with length, the references being shorter and the readings being longer.)The thoughts take a variety of forms. First, there are facts to be believed, such as, "The joy of the Lord is your strength." Second, there are commands to be obeyed, such as, "Let's continue to pray for one another." Third, there are promises to be enjoyed, such as, "You will become spiritually productive when you yoke up with Jesus." Fourth, there are questions to be answered, such as, "What do you seek?" Some of Copeland's thoughts are anecdotal and illustrative. Others are informative and enlightening. All are replete with words of encouragement. What's missing from Copeland's daily commentaries? There are no warnings to be heeded. This is intentional in a book of devotions because it is difficult, if not impossible, to praise God and pray for self and others when Hell-fire and damnation are on your mind. Prayer is at the center of each day's devotional reading. Some people say that there are only two types of prayer: Petition and Praise. Others identify four types of prayer, using the ACTS acronym: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. I like to think of five categories of prayer as summarized by the words: Praise, Thank, Sorry, Think, and Please (PTSTP). "Praise" means adoration and worship. "Thank" refers to prayers of thanksgiving and gratitude. "Sorry" stands for prayers of remorse, repentance, and confession. "Think" is all about meditation and contemplation, usually directed by Bible readings. "Please" covers prayers of supplication, petition, and intercession. You will find examples of all the above types of prayer in Copeland's book. The prayers will never be identified as such, but the attentive reader will know them when she sees them.I am writing this review on Christmas Eve, 2010. Today's devotion focused my thoughts on the Magi, seekers who were guided by the star of Bethlehem to the newborn King. When they found Him, they bowed down and worshiped Him, and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. With Copeland, I prayed this prayer: "Jesus, You taught me to ask and it will be given to me; seek and I will find; knock and the door will be opened to me. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Thank You, Father, for supplying my every need. Amen."Recommended.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Daily Devotionals apparently help a lot of people. I have never been able to stick to one for a full year. It's not likely to happen with this one. The first day was very predictable and a little generic. I don't know about all those suggested scriptures in so many different translations either.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A very well written devotional for the "first timer." The daily construct is straightforeward and easy: theme, a brief thought, a prayer (based on scripture), and suggested scripture for reading. While not meant to be a deep contemplative devotional, it is a great way to begin a discipline of daily reading and prayer!
