Musa Ibrahim

Musa Ibrahim ( ) is a Bangladeshi mountaineer and a journalist by profession. He is the first Bangladeshi to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Musa reached the summit around 6:00 am BST on May 23, 2010. Arranger of the expedition Iswari Paudel and Musa Ibrahim's wife confirmed the news at first hand. Musa Ibrahim is the General Secretary of North Alpine Club Bangladesh, a Bangladeshi mountaineering club and also serves as the sub-editor of The Daily Star. A Bangladeshi journalist has scaled the Mount Everest, becoming the first person from the country to conquer the worlds highest peak. Some 1,200 mountaineers have conquered the Everest in the last 50 years, but there was no Bangladeshi among them. Ibrahim climbed the 8,848-metre-high summit along with 14 Nepalese, six Britons, the Montenegrins and a U.S. national and a Serb. Earlier, on June 14, 2009 Musa Ibrahim and Tawhid Hossain conquered Mt Annapurna IV, a Himalayan peak at the height of 24,682ft, as first Bangladeshis without supplementary oxygen after tremendous hardship.

Education
Musa Ibrahim attained his Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree on Science Education and Master of Education (M.Ed) degree on Educational Evaluation and Research from 'Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka. He also attained a degree on Disaster Management from BRAC University. Musa Ibrahim was a student of Thakurgaon Sugar Mills High School In 1983 to 1994.

Family
Musa Ibrahim is the second child of his parents. His father's name is Ansar Ali and mother's name is Bilkis Begum. His elder sister is Noor Ayesha, UN employee and younger brother is Shoeb Harun, studying in Sydney, Australia. He got married in January 2007 to Ummey Sharaban Tahura, Assistant Judge.
