Installation & Conguration Overview & System Requirements

Thank you for purchasing Aventura for OpenCart! This documentation provides instructions for installing and setting up Aventura. Since the instructions are specic to the theme, they do not cover every OpenCart function. For more information on using OpenCart, please visit www.opencart.com and search the Documentation section. Aventura works with OpenCart version 1.5.0, 1.5.1.1, 1.5.1.2 and 1.5.1.3 and the latest version of PHP 5+. Before downloading OpenCart, make sure you meet the softwares system requirements. Follow the links below for technical requirements, installation instructions and to download the software.

Warning: Please backup your existing sites OpenCart les before uploading the theme to your server.

To install the Aventura theme: 1. Unzip the folder you downloaded when you purchased the theme. 2. Using an FTP client, copy the themes admin, catalog and image folders to the OpenCart directory, merging the new folders with the existing ones. You will also need the database table for the product details image size, related products, home page feature items, newsletter, etc. 3. Open your OpenCart website and log on to the admin panel. 4. In the top menu, select System and click Settings in the drop-down menu. 5. Click the Edit link to the right of your stores listing. 6. Select the Store tab. Go to the Template section and choose the theme from the drop-down list (circled in Figure 1 on the next page).

7. Click the Save button at the top of the page. The theme has been successfully installed. 8. To see the template applied to your site, click Store Front at the top of the admin panel at anytime.

The Homepage Slider

A slider has been incorporated into the homepage template. Images must be a minimum 1260 x 429 pixels.

The Homepage Featured Items

Below the main slider is a featured items carousel. Visitors can use the arrows on either side of the section to scroll back and forth through the carousel. Images should be uploaded at their original size (but should be larger than 116 x 157 px). The OpenCart GD library automatically re-sizes the images to t in this section.

The Homepage Featured Items

To set up the featured items carousel: 1. Go to Extensions > Modules in the top menu. Find Featured from the list of modules and click Install if it hasnt already been installed. Click Edit to open the module. 2. The Products section controls the products that are featured in the carousel. Type in the products name in the Products eld. As you start typing the product name, it should automatically appear in a drop-down box below the eld. Select the product by either clicking on it or by pressing the down key and hitting Tab or Enter. 3. Add as many products as you want. If you want to delete a product, click the red minus button next to its name.

4. In the next section, click the Add Module button. 5. Enter the dimensions 116 x 157 in the Image section. 6. Select the homepage from the Layout drop-down menu. In the Position drop-down menu, select Content Bottom. Though there are other position options, this is the only option that will properly display this section with this design. Set the status to Enabled and enter 2 in Sort Order.

7. Click the Save button at the top of the page when you are done editing the Featured module.

Page Settings Adding a Logo

The logo is displayed at the top left-hand corner of the header:

To add a logo: 1. Go to System > Settings in the top menu. Find your store and click Edit. 2. Click the Image tab. Click on the rst box (it will have the OpenCart logo by default). 3. The Image Manager pop-up window will appear. Click Upload and select a le from your computer. Click the Choose button.

4. Double-click on the image in Image Manager. The logo has been added to your site. 5. In the next section called Icon, you can select an icon to appear next to the website address in the browser window.

6. Under Icon, click the default icon and select a le in the Image Manager window. 7. Click the Save button at the top of the page.

Page Settings Modules

Modules are blocks of information that can be added to any page. OpenCart includes modules that display best selling items, categories, latest items and specials. To add a module: 1. Go to Extensions > Modules in the top menu. 2. Open a module by clicking Edit to the right of its name. 3. To add the module to a page, click the Add Module button. 4. Each module may have its own special options, but most will have a Layout drop-down menu where you can select which page you would like to display the module and a Position drop-down menu. You can position the module on the top, bottom, left-hand or right-hand side of a page layout.

5. To add the module to a different page, click the Add Module button. Select a new page under Layout and enter settings specic to that page. 6. Click the Save button when you have nished editing the modules settings.

Page Settings Resizing Images

You will need to resize the different types of images on your site to t the themes design. To resize images: 1. In the admin panel, go to System > Settings in the top menu. 2. Click Edit next to your store listing. Select the Image tab (circled in Figure 6). Enter the dimensions listed on the next page for each type of image. Click Save when you are done.
