Reflections & Preparation for Worship
O God, by your power may we, together with all the saints, comprehend the breadth and lengthand height and depth of the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that we may be filled with your fullness. Amen.
~ based on Ephesians 3:18-19
“The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage theattention of a child of God, is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and theexistence of the great God whom he calls his Father.”~ Charles H. Spurgeon, minister in Victorian England“There is tremendous relief in knowing that His love to me is utterly realistic, based at every pointon prior knowledge of the worst about me, so that no discovery can no disillusion him about me, inthe way I am so often disillusioned about myself, and quench His determination to bless me….There is…great incentive to worship and love God in the thought that, for some unfathomablereason, He wants me as His friend, and desires to be my friend, and has given His son to die for mein order to realize this purpose…. Knowing God is a relationship calculated to thrill a man’sheart.”J.I. Packer,
