Ihavenothadtheprivilegeofhearinganyoneofthe
lecturesdeliveredbyMr.Aldridgeinthishallduringthepastfew
Sundays,butIhavenoticedfromthedailypapersthathehas
beendealingwithsubjectsofgreatmomenttoeveryhumanbeing.
However,nomatterhowgreattheirsignificance,Ithinkthatthe
subjectthathewilldealwiththisafternooninrankofimportance
standspre-eminent.Youhaveonlytoreadhistoryandyouwill
findthatIneveryageeffortshavebeenmadetodestroytheWord
ofGod.However,thedestroyershavepassedaway,buttheBible
isstillwithus.Afewcenturiesagotheattemptwasmadetoburn
theBible.ThatcrudemannerofdestroyingtheWordofGodhas
beenreplacedbythemoremodernstyle.Theweaponnowused
todestroyitisthatofscience.However,scientistshavecomeand
gone;theWordofGodisstillwithus.Someyearsago,Dr.
J
osephOook,theAmericantheologian,scientist,andlecturer,visitedour
city.Irememberwellhismakingthestatementfromtheplatform
thatover

yearsofscientificresearchhadonlystrengthenedhis
faithintheWordofGod,andthathewasstillold-fashionedenough
tobelieveinitfromcovertocover.Iwouldratherpinmyfaith
onthetestimonyofamanofhisstandingthanIwouldonsomeof
