Easter Sunday
April 8, 2012
HE IS RISEN!HE IS RISEN!

The celebration of Easter brings us to the centralmystery of our faith
– the passion, death and theresurrection of Jesus. It draws us closely to the “heart”of God. It reveals to us that the cross, though a“Stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to theGentiles,” (1 Cor. 2:23) is for those who believe, “the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Cor. 2:24). Thecross manifests to us God’s standard of loving and Hisway of loving us.The “power of God” that St. Paul proclaims (1 Cor 2:24)is unleashed in the resurrection of Jesus. The seeming failure of the cross turns into a manifestation of God’s glory. He is alive. This is our faith. This means, in thewords of Ron Rolheiser, OMI, that, “to believe in theresurrection of Jesus is to be comforted at a level so deepthat nothing in life is any longer a threat. In theresurrection, the hand of God soothes us and the voiceof God assures us, frightened children that we are, thatall is good, and that all remain good forever and ever. The resurrection is something that buoys up everymoment of life and every aspect of reality. God is alwaysmaking new life and undergirding it with goodness, graciousness, mercy, and love that, in the end heals allwounds, forgives all sins and brings deadness of allkinds to new life.”We wish you abundant blessings. Welcome!
8 APRIL 2012
EASTER SUNDAY

We would like to extend a special welcome this weekend to all of you here today. Some of you may have been away for a while and some may be here for the first time. There’s an old saying that goes,
“Once a Catholic, always a Catholic.”
Maybe you havebeen away from the Church for a little while or quite some time, but somehow you now feel atug at your heart calling you back home to the Catholic Church. That’s why we’re here. That mysterious pull inside you, driving you to look into your faith once more, comes directlyfrom God. Your Heavenly Father is yearning for a relationship with you again, in the Churchfounded by Jesus 2000 years ago. He’s waiting for you with open arms. You may want to take some time to explore all of the resources available to help you learnmore about coming home to the Catholic Church. We know you may have questions, and mayeven want to resolve some past hurts before you can feel free to enter into a relationship withJesus or His Church again. We understand!
You are not alone.
The Church has compelling answers to all of your questions. The Catholic Church hasnever wavered in its mission to spread truth and love throughout the world. The Lord wants usall to know and understand His truth, so we can embrace it wholeheartedly and live by it. Christhimself reminds us that, “The truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).Consider this a sign, and your personal invitation to rediscover the truth, wonder andmystery of the Catholic faith. We are family. Welcome home!Whether or not you’re ready to return to the Catholic Church, or learn more about our faith,we’re
here to help you take that second look. If you have eve
thought about returning to theChurch, we would like to welcome you to St. Irenaeus. We have a special ministry for people justlike you who have been away from the Church.
