Officials of the Browns Fan Club were pleasantlysurprised when they discovered a reel of 16mm moviefilm tucked away ina box of memora-bilia donated by aclub member. ClubPresident, BillRogers, said he wascarefully removingitems from the boxwhich includedphotos from the1940s along withsome plaques, newspaperclippings andfinancial records of the Browns whenhe discovered afilm container rest-ing in the bottom of the box. Thecontainer waslabeled "WorldSeries 1944."Rogers didn't touchthe container for acouple of weeks. He was concerned due to the age of the film and any possible deterioration until he couldlocate a company who could handle restoration of thefilm. As it turned out, the film was fully recoverable andnow converted to digital DVD. It’s available forpurchase from the Fan Club. See more informationand ordering instructions on page 11.The film includes the first and only world series homerun hit by Stan Musial and, yes, it was against our St.Louis Browns. The poster to the right, as part of ourcollector item posters, includes a photo of Musialcrossing home plate.
